The jalapeño is a medium-sized, mildly pungent chili pepper that is used in many dishes. We also have a jalapeño in our assortment. Our pepper breeder has a breeding program for this popular pepper, so far resulting in a hybrid cultivar with several unique traits.
Our jalapeño (PE17-1163) is suitable for greenhouse and open field cultivation. The jalapeño has a strong, vegetative plant with a good fruit set. The crop requires generative steering to reach the optimal yield. A unique trait for this cultivar is that it continuously sets new fruits; constant and consistent fruit set during the whole year is a rare trait for jalapeños. Additionally, the labor-friendly crop will make most pepper growers happy!
Growers that cultivate our jalapeño are very content with the fruits. The perfect bullet shape, nice dark green color and outstanding shelf life convince many jalapeño growers to choose for our variety. Next to these traits, the cultivar is suitable for harvesting ripe fruits without cracking. Last, but not least: the high yield* per m2 makes our cultivar popular (23-25 kg per m2).
